Dr. Michael C. Grant is a cardiac anesthesiology and critical care intensivist with joint appointments in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Surgery and the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.


He is the institutional Director of Anesthesiology for the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program and has been involved nationally through the American Society of Enhanced Recovery (ASER), the Perioperative Quality Initiative (POQI), the International Enhanced Recovery Society, and the Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research (AHRQ) to establish evidence-based working guidelines for designing and implementing complex perioperative programs. Utilizing a background in Systems Engineering, Michael is interested in applying industry frameworks to designing perioperative programs that improve outcomes and increase value and efficiency.
